I just want to let you all know that I appreciate you doing this voting thing for me, but I don't really think music is a competition. These contests are decided by how many people you can get to vote for you. It is more of a popularity contest then it is about the music. If I came in first would I brag about it? No way, if I was the best unsigned band, then why wouldn't I be signed? There is a perception that one is the closest they can be to being good, and they are soooo close, but they fell just a hair short. When in reality, there are musicians who cannot hold a tune with major label contracts, and musicians that are music gods that will never see the light of day. So by the end of the day, what makes a band great? If they are signed or not? What is actually kind of funny is my last cd is under the Oarfin record label in Minneapolis. So how am I eligible for this contest in the first place? So technically, I am signed. Wow, so that means I am already better than the best "unsigned" band(according to your contest rules) Wow!!!! Seriously, can you all see how ridiculous these contests are? What does it mean to be the "best?"...really stupid...I think when it comes down to it, these contests are fun for the fans, and that is all. And bands that put so much weight in these contests make me laugh. Fans can have fun with it, but thats all it should be. So to my fans I say thanks for the support, and I ask you this, if I place 1st or 1,000,000th, does it really matter?

I agree with Josh it is not about making it to number 1 on the list. I posted this for the exposure aspect of the contest. Who cares if he makes it to number one or not because I will like his music regardless. Instead I hope people vote to keep Josh's profile up on the page longer. The reason being is for exposure and giving those who appreciate checking out new artists a chance to sample Josh's music. If Josh stays up on the list for a week longer because of a vote then that gives his music a chance to be heard by someone who might truly appreciate it the way you or I would. And that someone might do what we all do when we find a great new artist, song, show or anything else, he/she might share Josh's music with friends. Personally I think Josh is d**n talented and I want to give others the opportunity to check out his music. Voting on this music site alternative addiction is just one way as a fan I think I can do so. It is kind of like inviting someone who has never heard Josh before to come to a show with you. By inviting them, you give them a chance to check out a new artist that they may truly enjoy.
In the end, this is just for fun...this one contest will not make or break Josh, but it might invite one new person to appreciate Josh's music...to me that is worth a vote.

Anyone else notice that Josh is now number 6 in the unsigned top ten? Good job Josh.

Exposure is good (yes, i voted); numbers are meaningless.....except when they count the number of people who care about you and support you. Josh is surrounded by some pretty amazing, loyal people. Now that's cool. As for the music, how do you truly quantify "successful" music? I would imagine anytime you bare your soul musically and it touches someone else's heart or mind, that's success. I'm rambling, but by those standards, we all know Josh is "successful". Happy Holidays, all.

I wasn't implying that he isn't successful. I was merely stating that he had gotten into the top ten, which I felt was impressive and will help with his exposure...because once you are in the top ten, it's harder to fall out, than if he'd never gotten in in the first place. But hey, what the hell do I know.
Happy Holidays

Whoa...never suggested you were implying that; obviously you're one of those amazing loyal people. I was referring to the music industry sort of thing Josh was talking about, not to your comment. So Merry Christmas and have a happy!

Eh, I probably misread it. It's been a long, stressful week. Let's start over.
Happy Holidays everyone!

Sorry your week was stressful. Funny how the season for peace and joy tends to also stress us out. I've got a busload of relatives coming in for Christmas; fun, but whenever you get that many family members together, anything can happen. ha Take care and have a great holiday.
